Whats The Difference Between A & B CDL License?

Class A CDL- Any combination of vehicles that has a gross combination weight rating or gross combination weight of 26,001 pounds or more provided the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds

Driver careers that require a Class A CDL include but are not limited to:

  • Tractor Trailer Drivers

  • Truck Trailers Combination

Class B CDL License -  Any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 26,001 or under, any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 GVWR pounds.

Driver Careers that require a Class B CDL include but are not limited to:

  • Ready Mix/Concrete Truck

  • Dump Truck Driver

  • Bus Driver
